Meet Tiana Ellis Blakely

Candidate for Cook County Judge

Tiana Ellis Blakely was born and raised in Chicago, IL.  She was raised in the Roseland Community where she attended Chicago Public Schools. Tiana received her undergraduate degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University. While at SIU, she was an active member of the Saluki Volunteer Corp. She later pursued her Juris Doctorate at Loyola University Chicago. During law school she was very active with the Elder Law Clinic and an Associate Editor of the Children's Legal Rights Journal.

Tiana became a licensed attorney in November 2004. She joined the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender thereafter, where she currently practices. While at the Public Defender's Office she has been assigned to several divisions including Child Protection, First Municipal, and Felony Trial. Tiana has litigated over 200 cases from Battery to First Degree Murder. She also serves as a Trial Skills Coach for new attorneys through the Office of the State Appellate Defender.

Tiana's work history combined with her personal life experiences will allow her to bring what's needed in every courtroom; EXPERIENCE, COMPASSION, and JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Tiana has served and continues to serve her community in various ways. She has sponsored mentoring programs, provided pro-bono legal services, speaks in neighborhood high schools about crime prevention, and volunteers at senior centers throughout her community. She is a member of the Cook County Bar Association, Black Women Lawyers Association, Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Incorporated, Vice President of Poe Classical School PTA and Fernwood Park Advisory Council.

Tiana currently resides in the Roseland Community with her husband and their three children.
